Blazers' Terry Stotts rips George Karl for criticizing Damian Lillard: 'Stay in your lane'

Unmistakably annoyed with George Karl's late trashing remarks about Damian Lillard before Portland went up against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, the Trail Blazers mentor furiously shielded his player and his group. Karl condemned Lillard's own image off the court and trusted that it was influencing the Trail Blazers on the court. Stotts couldn't differ more.

"I owe a great deal to George," Stotts said. "I got my begin in training with George. I wouldn't be here if not for him, he's an effective mentor. That being said, on the off chance that he needs to reduce his odds for the Hall of Fame, on the off chance that he needs to undermine his odds of being a head mentor again in this class, on the off chance that he needs to settle old scores with GMs, players or whoever else, that is his right. However, with regards to my group and my players, he needs to remain in his own particular path.

"He doesn't know Damian Lillard. He doesn't know how coachable he is. He doesn't realize what an incredible partner he is. He doesn't know the amount Damian thinks about winning and that he is so vital to this establishment. Also, however all around planned [his comments] may have been, which I don't comprehend, I can't endure."

Stotts used to be a colleague mentor under Karl, beginning in the now-old Continental Basketball Association and after that with the Seattle SuperSonics and the Milwaukee Bucks. However, whatever relationship they may have had some time recently, it now has all the earmarks of being a relic of days gone by.

"I won't connect, there's no motivation to be friendly," Stotts said. "Other than it is quite charming when you begin remarking on our players and their character."

Furthermore, as you can expect, Stotts won't be pre-requesting Furious George or notwithstanding looking at the book when it is discharged.

"I don't anticipate perusing the book." Stotts said. "I haven't read the book and I won't have any remarks on his book. Be that as it may, as I said with regards to my group and my players, will guard my folks, particularly somebody whose been as essential to the establishment and to our prosperity as Damian has been."
